Keynote Speaker: Dr. Corina Benavides López: " Si a la Excelencia Académica!: Celebrating the Cultural Wealth of Familial Resistance in Turbulent Times"
Dr. Benavides López is associate professor of Chicana and Chicano Studies at CSU, Dominguez Hills. Born in Tijuana, Mexico and living most of her youth as an undocumented immigrant, she successfully navigated higher education from the community college to the doctoral level as a first-generation college student. She earned her Ph.D. in Social Sciences and Comparative Education with a specialization in race and ethnic studies from the University of California, Los Angeles; her M.A. in education with emphasis in gender studies and higher education from Stanford University; a B.A. in Chicana/o Studies and B.A. in Women’s Studies with a Specialization in Education from UCLA and her A.A. degree from Saddleback Community College.
